Sr. Buyer/Planner
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Management: Manage the purchasing of supplies and equipment to meet operational needs. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure cost-effective outcomes.
- Inventory Planning and Optimization: Utilize tools such as Slim4 and ERP/MRP systems to forecast demand and manage inventory across multiple distribution centers. Aim to minimize stockouts, overstock, and obsolescence while maintaining availability.
- Supplier Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Evaluate performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, and pricing.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Use analytics tools like Power BI to monitor purchasing trends, supplier metrics, and inventory levels. Apply insights to improve supply chain efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams including sales, finance, logistics, and merchandising to align procurement strategies with broader business goals.
- Problem Resolution: Address supply chain disruptions such as delays and long lead times. Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance procurement processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain roles, ideally within a distribution or healthcare-related environment.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and a solid understanding of MRP and inventory optimization.
- Experience with data analytics tools such as Power BI.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams and with external partners.
- Familiarity with the healthcare distribution or post-acute care market is a plus.
- APICS certification or similar supply chain credentials preferred.
