Amazon Merchandise Manager
Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven professional to step into a newly created, high-impact role that combines site management and buying responsibilities, with a strong focus on Amazon's vendor-facing operations. This individual will oversee the full Amazon account and manage one direct report.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Management
Serve as the primary contact for all product-related decisions within Amazon's 1P (Vendor Central) model-selling wholesale to Amazon, which handles fulfillment.Assortment & Buying Strategy
Lead and shape the product assortment on Amazon.com, including both core replenishment items and fashion-forward collections that are not typically restocked.Site Optimization & Merchandising
Leverage Amazon's backend systems and algorithms to enhance product listings and drive purchase orders. Optimize titles, descriptions, and A+ content to improve conversion and sales.Reporting & Analytics
Analyze weekly performance reports to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities. Make data-driven decisions to grow the business.Promotional Strategy
Align with Amazon's promotional calendar to plan and execute deals around major events such as Prime Day and Labor Day.Inventory Planning
Collaborate with internal planning teams to manage inventory transfers and ensure accurate product allocation to Amazon.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
- 3+ years managing an Amazon business in roles such as Merchandise Manager, Product Manager, or Account Manager.
- Must have hands-on experience with Amazon 1P (Vendor Central). Experience with 3P (Seller Central) is a plus but not required.
- Background in wholesale, especially in fashion or apparel, is preferred but not essential if the candidate has strong 1P experience in other industries (e.g., beauty, home appliances).
Skills
- Deep understanding of Amazon's systems and algorithms.
- Strong proficiency in retail math, assortment planning, and SKU management.
- Highly analytical with a passion for data.
- Familiarity with key retail concepts: seasonality, inventory turn, forecasting, merchandise planning, Vendor Central.
