Maintenance Manager

We're seeking a skilled and strategic Maintenance Manager to lead a high-performing team responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment in a fast-paced distribution environment. This role ensures that all systems and machinery are operating efficiently and safely, while also driving continuous improvement in preventive maintenance practices and team development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preventive maintenance program, ensuring timely and effective execution of scheduled tasks.
  • Introduce and implement new maintenance technologies and best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide cross-training opportunities for technicians across multiple disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and welding.
  • Plan and manage capital improvement projects, including contractor selection and oversight.
  • Develop clear career paths for maintenance staff and support their professional growth through training and certification opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain required licenses and certifications.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and ownership among team members for their work and data reporting.
  • Support team development through hands-on training in areas such as powered equipment, conveyor systems, and facility lighting.
  • Maintain alignment with broader operational goals by collaborating with other departments and participating in daily activities.
  • Promote open communication and engagement between supervisors and their teams.
  • Share innovations and improvements across the maintenance network and apply best practices locally.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for key maintenance roles as needed.
  • Support HR-related matters including attendance, compensation, benefits, and workplace accommodations.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide constructive feedback, and manage team performance effectively.
  • Champion change initiatives and guide team members through transitions.

Additional Duties

  • Develop and implement training programs and proficiency checklists for new hires.
  • Certify completion of training and ensure readiness for independent work.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust PLC systems as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance or distribution operations with increasing responsibility.
  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and coaching.
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of systems such as conveyors, PLCs, electrical systems, HVAC, and forklifts.
  • Strong safety record and ability to foster a safety-first culture.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with power equipment and basic PLC programming.
  • Budget and resource management experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with leadership at all levels.
  • Experience leading corporate initiatives or working in a multi-site network.
