Packaging Warehouse Supervisor
Position Overview
A results-driven Packaging Warehouse Supervisor to lead shift operations within a packaging and warehouse facility. Reporting to the Packaging Warehouse Manager, this role drives continuous improvement, operational excellence, and lean manufacturing practices. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who embraces value stream thinking, eliminates waste, and empowers teams to solve problems at the source.
Essential Functions
- Promote a zero-injury safety culture by embedding safety into daily work, participating in gemba walks, and reinforcing safe behaviors aligned with the site safety plan.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment through 5S discipline and routine audits.
- Lead and develop shift leads using lean leadership principles, driving performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
- Encourage employee engagement and continuous improvement by supporting frontline problem-solving and recognizing contributions.
- Develop, standardize, and sustain SOPs; train employees and ensure consistent execution.
- Ensure effective shift handoffs using structured processes and visual management tools.
- Apply root cause analysis (5-Why, fishbone/Ishikawa, A3) to implement permanent corrective actions.
- Partner with Procurement to maintain efficient packaging material flow using pull systems and inventory best practices.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to strengthen Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), improving OEE and reducing downtime.
- Demonstrate core values including Safety, Integrity, Openness & Trust, Teamwork, Entrepreneurship, and Social Responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs and third-party audit standards, maintaining constant audit readiness.
- Work with Quality and Operations teams to sustain product quality using data-driven decision-making.
- Drive a customer-focused approach, using complaint data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Spend 80%+ of time on the production floor conducting gemba walks, coaching employees, and removing barriers.
- Show flexibility to support operations outside standard hours as needed.
Skills & Experience Requirements
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent lean manufacturing experience considered.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in packaging, food manufacturing, or similar environments.
- Proven success leading continuous improvement initiatives with measurable results.
- Working knowledge of lean tools (5S, standard work, visual management, TPM, root cause analysis, kaizen).
- Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Ability to analyze data and translate metrics into actionable improvements.
- High-energy, collaborative, and results-oriented, with a strong focus on people development and process improvement.
