Plant Manager
My client, a privately held metal manufacturing organization in the Western U.S., is seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to lead day-to-day operations at a metal manufacturing facility. This individual will be responsible for production performance, equipment reliability, employee development, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
Position Details
- Title: Plant Manager
- Location: Greater Salt Lake City Area, UT
- Type: Full-Time, On-Site
- Reports To: Executive Leadership
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations with a strong presence on the production floor.
- Develop and execute production schedules to maximize throughput and minimize downtime.
- Oversee maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance programs and equipment troubleshooting.
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all safety and operational standards.
- Train, coach, and develop production personnel while fostering accountability and teamwork.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience within steel manufacturing, metal processing, or a related industry.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Pipe and tube mills
- Slitting equipment
- Roll-forming machinery
- Tooling changeovers and equipment maintenance
- Proven ability to improve production efficiency and operational performance.
- Experience leading production and maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, employee development, and strategic planning skills.
- Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to spend significant time on the shop floor.
