Quality Assurance Supervisor
A leading food manufacturer is hiring a Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead on-the-floor food safety and quality execution in a high-volume environment during the 2nd shift. This hands-on role oversees QA teams, ensures compliance with HACCP, GMPs, and audit standards, and drives investigations and corrective actions. Ideal candidates bring strong regulatory knowledge, manufacturing experience, and a passion for building a proactive, continuous improvement-focused quality culture.
The responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Supervisor will include:
- Review and verify quality records for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal specifications and standards
- Partner cross-functionally to enhance food safety and quality programs, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and health department requirements
- Serve as liaison for local health inspections, supporting site readiness and regulatory compliance
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve inspection, sanitation, and verification programs
- Support SOP and work instruction development to standardize quality and food safety processes
- Lead investigations into non-conformances, complaints, and product deviations (e.g., foreign material, sensory, shelf-life)
- Drive root cause analysis and CAPA execution to mitigate risks and improve product quality
- Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and Sanitation on new product launches, validations, and process improvements
- Support audit readiness and execution for SQF, FDA, and customer audits
- Deliver training programs for QA and sanitation teams, ensuring strong food safety culture and onboarding effectiveness
- Manage product holds, traceability, and mock recall exercises to ensure compliance and rapid response capability
- Oversee GMP, pest control, and sanitation programs through monitoring, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead and develop QA team members through coaching, performance management, and skills development
The ideal Quality Assurance Supervisor will have the following skillset:
- Comfortable working in production settings with exposure to cold environments, noise, and high traffic conditions
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience)
- Strong expertise in GMPs, HACCP, SSOPs, SQF, and FDA/USDA regulatory requirements
- Hands-on experience with food safety systems, including allergen control and sanitation programs
- Minimum 2+ years of QA/food safety experience in a food manufacturing environment (plant-based or alternative proteins a plus)
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team engagement, performance management, and results-driven execution
