Position Summary

A dynamic and experienced professional is needed to lead the sales and inventory strategy for softwood lumber products-specifically Douglas Fir, Hem Fir, and Pine-across two manufacturing sites in Northern California. This leadership role involves managing product flow, customer relationships, and market expansion efforts, with a strong emphasis on growing business outside the state. The role is based onsite in Northern California, with relocation support available.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Inventory Oversight

  • Develop and execute sales strategies for multiple softwood product lines.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and ensure timely response to inquiries and orders.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with production teams to align inventory levels with demand and minimize overstock or shortages.
  • Promote cross-selling across product categories.

Internal Logistics Coordination

  • Manage internal stock transfers and ensure timely product availability for internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with procurement and logistics teams to streamline supply chain operations.
  • Regularly assess inventory levels and adjust strategies to meet internal demand.

Market Expansion

  • Identify and pursue new customer opportunities across the U.S.
  • Conduct market research to understand regional demand and customer preferences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and industry events to promote products and generate leads.

Travel & Reporting

  • Travel regularly (at least one week per month) for client meetings and industry events.
  • Provide detailed sales forecasts and performance reports to leadership.
  • Share insights on market conditions and customer feedback with internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven track record in lumber sales, particularly in Douglas Fir and green timber products.
  • Strong understanding of softwood markets and customer needs.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and inventory management tools.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to stand, reach, climb, kneel, or lift.
  • Must be comfortable working in an office setting with frequent communication and coordination across departments.
