Sanitation Manager
A leading contract manufacturing company in the greater Louisville, KY area is seeking a driven and experienced Sanitation Manager to lead sanitation operations in a large-scale, highly automated food manufacturing facility. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership to a team of sanitation supervisors and hourly team members, ensuring that all sanitation processes meet the highest standards of food safety, quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This leader will own the sanitation program for the facility-driving continuous improvement, overseeing the development and execution of sanitation plans, ensuring proper chemical handling and usage, and strengthening a culture of food safety and compliance.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the sanitation program and drive continuous improvement to achieve best‑in‑class cleanliness standards.
- Manage the execution of the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and ensure compliance with SSOPs.
- Oversee proper chemical usage, storage, dispensing, and supplier coordination.
- Audit sanitation activities, identify gaps, implement corrective actions, and maintain documentation.
- Partner with Quality on food safety programs, investigations, swabbing, pest control, and audit readiness.
- Provide sanitation input for equipment design, installations, and capital projects.
- Analyze sanitation performance metrics, address root causes, and improve operational efficiency.
- Manage labor planning, scheduling, inventory, and sanitation budget performance.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP/FSMA, environmental requirements, and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
- Lead, coach, and develop sanitation supervisors and hourly team members to build a high‑performing, engaged team.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or relevant preferred
- 5+ years of experience with wet and dry sanitation processes.
- 3+ years of leadership experience overseeing sanitation teams (hourly and salaried) in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cleaning chemistry, sanitation systems, chemical handling, and sanitary design.
- Knowledge of HACCP, FSMA, GMPs, SQF/BRC standards, WHMIS, LOTO, and occupational safety regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, Dayforce) is a plus.
