Senior Field Sales Engineer (RF & Optical Semiconductor Solutions)
Territory: Mid‑Atlantic (NC, VA, WV, DC, MD)
A leading provider of RF and optical semiconductor solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Field Sales Engineer to drive revenue growth across the Mid‑Atlantic territory. This role will focus on expanding business with customers in aerospace & defense, commercial communications, and SATCOM markets, with a strong emphasis on influencing design wins and growing strategic accounts.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation paired with a proven track record of closing high‑value, complex deals, particularly within RF semiconductor components and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the assigned territory, managing and growing relationships across RF/microwave and infrastructure customers
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to position solutions early in customer bids, designs, and proposals
- Work closely with engineering and procurement teams to identify upcoming opportunities and secure design‑in positions for new programs
- Translate customer technical and commercial requirements internally, ensuring alignment with product and engineering teams
- Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting using CRM tools
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, applications engineering, and product management to deliver tailored customer solutions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with direct customers, channel partners, manufacturers' representatives, and distributors
- Apply consultative sales methodologies to drive value‑based customer engagement
- Travel approximately 50-70% within the Mid‑Atlantic territory
- Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience selling into aerospace & defense, communications, or SATCOM markets
- Strong technical background in RF design, RF/microwave systems, or semiconductor technologies (optical experience a plus)
- Proven ability to negotiate and close multimillion‑dollar opportunities
- Experience managing strategic accounts, channel partners, and distribution networks
- Self‑starter with the ability to independently drive results in a customer‑focused, fast‑paced environment
- Understanding of A&D procurement cycles and bid processes is beneficial
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field required
- Experience with CRM tools and sales forecasting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. Person status required)
