Sr. Laser Process Development Engineer
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Laser Process Development Engineer to join our advanced manufacturing team - in the semiconductor space. In this role, you will lead the development and optimization of laser-based processes for precision manufacturing applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, product development, and production to drive innovation, improve process reliability, and support the transition of new technologies from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of laser-based processes (e.g., cutting, welding, ablation, marking, micromachining) for new and existing products.
- Evaluate and select appropriate laser sources, optics, and motion systems for specific applications.
- Develop and execute experiments to characterize process parameters and establish robust process windows.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure process integration and scalability.
- Analyze data using statistical tools to validate process capability and ensure quality standards.
- Document process development activities, including test plans, results, and standard operating procedures.
- Support the transfer of laser processes to manufacturing, including training, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with advancements in laser technology and recommend new tools or techniques to enhance capabilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in laser process development in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and data analysis tools (e.g., CircuitCAM, Solidworks).
- Experience with Laser programming software.
- Proficiency in SPC, DOE, FMEA.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Strong communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
