Supply Chain Procurement Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Procurement Manager oversees all raw material and packaging sourcing activities, including the management of supplier contracts. The position requires a strong understanding of commodity markets and the ability to develop and execute effective sourcing strategies.
Additionally, the Procurement Manager is responsible for inventory oversight and directly supervises the Buyer/Planner role. This individual collaborates cross-functionally with Quality, Supply Chain, Production, Warehouse, R&D, IT, and other departments to support overall operational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Partner with the Director of Global Supply Chain to develop and execute contingency sourcing strategies aligned with business growth and operational needs.
- Negotiate supplier agreements to drive cost efficiency, supply continuity, and overall value.
- Monitor and analyze market trends across key raw material categories to inform sourcing strategies.
- Track and report on KPIs in collaboration with supply chain leadership.
- Manage and optimize both short- and long-term supplier contracts.
- Maintain a dual-sourcing strategy for key materials while identifying and qualifying new suppliers in partnership with R&D.
- Assess supplier performance through regular reviews, including site visits and quality audits.
- Collaborate closely with Operations to align procurement activities with production schedules and demand fluctuations.
- Oversee inventory control, acting as an internal auditor to ensure accuracy and providing reporting on stock levels and variances.
- Proactively plan material requirements to support business objectives and minimize risk.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through regular engagement and negotiation.
- Lead and develop the Buyer/Planner to ensure alignment with sourcing strategy.
- Manage the India-based Technical Purchasing Negotiator, ensuring coordination across both domestic and international procurement activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or one of the applied sciences
- Minimum 7 years related experience in roles involving procurement and inventory control
- Experienced in database management, with proficiency in SAP, data analysis, and statistical evaluation.
- Strong background in traceability, stock coordination, shipping logistics, and FIFO management.
- Proficient in major computer software and applications.
- Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and consistently able to meet deadlines.
- Adaptable to both hands-on and office-based responsibilities.
- Effective communicator across all levels of the organization.
- Skilled in team building and influencing stakeholders to drive collaboration and results.
Preferred:
- Experience in commodities procurement and contract negotiation
- Direct experience in food commodities procurement
- Experience with SAP software
