Overview

My client is seeking a Technical Manager to support the development of a major new production facility. In this strategic leadership role, you will take full responsibility for the technical area, contributing significantly to the construction, commissioning, operation, and ongoing optimisation of state-of-the-art production systems. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will ensure that operations run safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

Your Tasks

  • Lead, develop, and schedule employees within the technical department
  • Ensure fault-free technical operations including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities
  • Oversee personnel planning and on-call rotas
  • Plan, manage, and execute technical projects, including new construction and ongoing operational improvements
  • Organise and coordinate external suppliers, service providers, and fitters
  • Take ownership of budgets, investments, and repair planning within the technical area
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards, occupational safety, and hygiene regulations
  • Accept and sign off technical systems, deliveries, and completed works
  • Maintain and improve data quality, maintenance orders, and asset management processes
  • Represent the technical department in internal and external meetings and on technical committees

Your Profile

  • Completed technical vocational training (e.g., mechanic, polymechanic, electrician) with advanced training such as Engineer HF/FH
  • Several years of professional and leadership experience in a comparable technical function
  • Strong knowledge of plant maintenance, automation, and technical operations
  • Proven experience managing and implementing technical projects-ideally including new builds and commissioning
  • Industry experience in food, pharmaceuticals, or similar regulated environments (advantageous)
  • Solid business acumen with experience in budget and investment management
  • Strong IT user skills (MS Office; SAP preferred)
  • Excellent written and spoken German; English and/or French skills are an advantage
  • Strong leadership capabilities with assertiveness, strategic thinking, and the ability to work cross‑functionally
  • High resilience, flexibility, and willingness to support additional demands during the construction and commissioning phases
