Position Overview
The Director of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing strategic growth initiatives across a portfolio of large global accounts while leading a team of sales and account management professionals. This individual will play a critical leadership role in shaping commercial strategy, identifying new revenue opportunities, strengthening executive-level customer relationships, and ensuring successful execution across multiple regions.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of selling technical solutions within the electronics, manufacturing, industrial technology, or related sectors. They will be a commercially driven leader who can operate effectively in complex global environments, align cross-functional resources, and influence key stakeholders both internally and externally.
This role requires a blend of strategic leadership, business development expertise, customer relationship management, and operational discipline. Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sales, business development, and account management professionals located across multiple regions.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures while supporting professional growth and development.
- Foster a results-oriented culture centered around customer success, operational excellence, and profitable growth.
- Drive alignment across regional commercial teams to ensure consistent execution of account strategies and customer engagement initiatives.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and functions.
Strategic Account Management
- Develop and execute strategic account plans for key enterprise customers.
- Build strong relationships with executive-level decision makers including leadership across procurement, engineering, operations, supply chain, manufacturing, and product organizations.
- Serve as an executive sponsor for critical customer relationships.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing partnerships and increase share of wallet within strategic accounts.
- Lead business reviews, customer engagement activities, and long-term planning discussions.
- Anticipate customer challenges and proactively develop solutions that create value for both the customer and the organization.
Business Development & Growth
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within target markets.
- Develop growth strategies designed to expand revenue and market penetration across existing and prospective customers.
- Monitor industry trends, customer initiatives, and competitive activities to uncover growth opportunities.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities and ensure effective progression through the sales cycle.
- Support strategic initiatives related to market expansion, new product introductions, and customer acquisition efforts.
- Work closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to align commercial objectives with broader business goals.
Commercial Strategy
- Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's long-term commercial strategy.
- Evaluate market opportunities, customer investment priorities, and competitive positioning to guide decision-making.
- Drive pricing, contract negotiations, and commercial discussions with customers.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and annual planning activities.
- Identify and address barriers to growth while recommending actions to improve business performance.
- Leverage market intelligence and customer feedback to influence strategic priorities.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with operations, engineering, product management, customer success, supply chain, finance, and executive leadership teams.
- Ensure alignment between customer expectations and operational capabilities.
- Coordinate internal resources to support customer requirements and strategic growth initiatives.
- Lead complex, cross-functional projects that involve multiple business units and geographic regions.
- Facilitate communication among stakeholders to ensure successful execution and customer satisfaction.
Performance Management
- Establish and manage key performance indicators related to revenue growth, profitability, pipeline development, customer retention, and account expansion.
- Deliver accurate sales forecasts and business updates to senior leadership.
- Analyze performance data and develop action plans to improve results.
- Drive a disciplined approach to opportunity management and sales execution.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, processes, and reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in sales, business development, account management, or commercial leadership roles.
- Experience leading strategic customer relationships within manufacturing, electronics, industrial technology, automation, components, or related industries.
- Demonstrated success driving revenue growth through both account expansion and new business development.
- Proven leadership experience managing high-performing sales or account management teams.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements and customer contracts.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and executive engagement skills.
- Ability to operate successfully within a matrixed global organization.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting multinational customers with global operations.
- Background in electronics manufacturing, electronic components, industrial technology, automation, electromechanical products, connectivity solutions, or related markets.
- Experience working with large OEM, contract manufacturing, technology, industrial, or enterprise customers.
- Demonstrated success leading geographically dispersed teams.
- Knowledge of complex supply chains and technical sales processes.
- Master's degree (MBA or related field).
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar customer portfolios.
- Strong understanding of strategic account planning methodologies.

Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $220,000 - $260,000, with eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus and additional incentive opportunities.
