Overview
Our client, a growing food & beverage manufacturer, is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing initiatives across key ingredient and commodity categories. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring supply continuity, managing supplier relationships, driving cost savings, and supporting commodity risk mitigation strategies through hedging and market analysis.
This is a highly visible position partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, and Commercial teams to develop procurement strategies that support growth while protecting margins.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for direct materials, including ingredients, raw materials, packaging, and commodity-based inputs.
- Lead supplier negotiations focused on cost, quality, service, lead times, and contract management.
- Monitor commodity markets and collaborate with Finance and leadership teams on hedging strategies and risk management initiatives.
- Analyze market trends, crop conditions, supply disruptions, and pricing forecasts to proactively mitigate risks.
- Manage supplier performance programs, scorecards, and business reviews.
- Drive cost savings, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply base.
- Support new product launches through supplier identification, qualification, and sourcing strategies.
- Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Develop sourcing contingency plans and strengthen supplier risk management processes.
- Maintain strong relationships with key domestic and global suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Food Science, or related field.
- 7+ years of procurement, sourcing, or category management experience within food & beverage manufacturing.
- Strong experience sourcing ingredients and commodity-driven raw materials.
- Experience monitoring commodity markets and supporting hedging or risk management strategies.
- Proven success negotiating supplier agreements and driving measurable cost savings.
- Knowledge of agricultural commodities, ingredient markets, and supply chain dynamics.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
- Strong analytical, forecasting, and contract management skills.
- ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar preferred).
