Application Engineer
DSJ Global is currently partnered with a global specialty chemicals company is seeking an Application Engineer to support customers in the tissue/pulp & paper industry. This role focuses on technical applications, process optimization, and customer support to drive product performance, business growth, and customer retention. This role is also fully remote with up to 50% travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of customer trials (setup, monitoring, data collection, analysis)
- Translate trial results into actionable recommendations and conversion strategies
- Coordinate with internal teams and customer stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes
- Diagnose customer process issues and recommend effective chemical/process solutions
- Model and evaluate customer systems to improve performance and reduce risk
- Provide alternative solutions based on performance, cost, and compatibility
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor for key accounts
- Support business development with technical inputs for proposals, contracts, and RFQs
- Deliver expertise for complex or high-risk applications
- Partner with sales teams to support growth and retention
- Train and mentor sales and customer teams on product applications and best practices
- Develop technical resources and tools
- Collaborate with R&D to improve products and applications
- Evaluate new technologies and identify opportunities for new applications/markets
- Contribute to product lifecycle and commercialization efforts
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Support audits and maintain compliance documentation
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- Experience: ~7-9 years in tissue/pulp & paper or related industry
- Strong knowledge of:
- Industrial chemical applications
- Process engineering principles
- Microbiology and chemistry
- Experience with process troubleshooting, system design, and technical project execution
- Ability to work cross-functionally and engage with customers
