Our client is a well-established confectionery manufacturer with over 100 years of heritage, up to 500 employees, and a portfolio of 50+ products exported to more than 50 countries. As a subsidiary of a larger international group, they combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, producing exclusively in Germany.

They are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead their site operations. The COO will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for the full end-to-end management of the site, including production, supply chain, quality, safety, engineering, and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all site operations, ensuring efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing, logistics, and technical functions.
  • Oversee supply chain, procurement, and inventory management to ensure optimal flow of materials and finished goods.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage site budgets, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Lead and develop a diverse team across operations, engineering, and support functions.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO and group leadership on strategic initiatives, investments, and innovation.
  • Represent the site internally and externally, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Ideal Profile

  • Proven experience in a senior operations or plant leadership role within FMCG, ideally food or confectionery.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and operational best practices.
  • Fluent in German; English proficiency is a plus.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a strategic mindset.
  • Experience working in a mid-sized or family-owned business environment is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
