Director of Supply Chain Planning
Overview:
Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Supply Chain Planning to lead end-to-end planning, inventory management, and execution across a dynamic and growing product portfolio. This role is ideal for a leader with a strong background in mid-sized organizations, high SKU complexity, multi-site operations, and external manufacturing partnerships.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in supply planning, ERP optimization (preferably Sage X3), postponement strategies, and Integrated Business Planning (IBP). This position plays a critical role in aligning operational decisions with financial outcomes while driving agility, scalability, and efficiency across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Develop and execute a scalable, end-to-end supply chain strategy aligned with business growth objectives.
- Lead the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process, ensuring alignment across Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Executive Leadership.
- Drive long-term planning, scenario modeling, and executive-level supply reviews.
Planning, Scheduling & Inventory Management
- Manage complex planning across high SKU volumes and product variations using postponement strategies.
- Oversee production scheduling and capacity planning to ensure responsiveness and throughput.
- Optimize inventory levels and service metrics while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
Systems, Tools & Reporting
- Lead the implementation and optimization of ERP/MRP systems (preferably Sage X3).
- Establish planning systems that support visibility, postponement, and external partner coordination.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to support data-driven decision-making.
External Manufacturing & Partnerships
- Collaborate with co-manufacturers and supply partners to align capacity, lead times, and service levels.
- Negotiate and manage supply agreements to ensure continuity and scalability.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Build and mentor a high-performing supply chain planning team.
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, and Finance to drive results.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain processes and systems.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field required.
- Master's degree (MBA or MS in Supply Chain/Operations) preferred.
Certifications (Preferred):
- APICS CPIM or CSCP
- PMP
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
Competencies:
- Strategic thinking and long-term planning
- Financial acumen and data-driven decision-making
- Expertise in scheduling, capacity planning, and postponement strategies
- ERP/MRP system mastery (Sage X3 or NetSuite preferred)
- Strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and change management skills
- Executive presence and effective communication
Physical Requirements:
