EHS Manager
A global leader in the specialty chemicals industry is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead site-level compliance and safety initiatives at a key U.S. manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Sr. Plant Director, this is a high-impact leadership role ideal for a strategic, hands-on EHS professional ready to shape culture, ensure compliance, and lead continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact between the site and regulatory authorities, managing inspections, audits, and all compliance-related communications.
- Lead the implementation of Local, State, and Federal regulatory compliance programs, including RC14001 and internal EHS standards.
- Oversee all Environmental, Health, Safety, Training, and Security programs, ensuring full compliance and operational readiness.
- Develop and manage EHS budgets using a zero-based approach.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate safety, security, and environmental risks.
- Maintain high levels of emergency preparedness, including testing, maintenance, and training for all critical response systems and personnel.
- Direct investigations of incidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide trend analysis and strategic recommendations to reduce incidents and improve site-wide safety performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align EHS strategy with broader site objectives and long-term planning.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency and cultural change.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field, or demonstrated equivalency.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in EHS compliance and regulatory program development within a manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant environmental and safety regulations.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive cultural transformation.
- Experience with emergency response planning, risk mitigation, and regulatory audits.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
