EHS Manager
Position Summary
The Safety Specialist plays a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position supports a culture of safety by conducting risk assessments, delivering training, investigating incidents, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by working with OSHA and other relevant agencies.
- Lead safety onboarding for new hires, including GHS training, and coordinate monthly safety topics and ongoing training initiatives.
- Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across the facility.
- Investigate and document workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze safety data and trends to proactively reduce risks and prevent future incidents.
- Deliver safety training and education on emergency procedures, hazard recognition, and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with leadership and employees to strengthen the site's safety culture.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation and fire drill procedures.
- Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies and insurance providers.
- Coordinate with external contractors for scheduled inspections and maintenance of safety systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the EHS function.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience: Prior experience in industrial or manufacturing safety roles is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Solid understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for training and collaboration.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with safety data systems.
- Commitment to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
