General Manager - Electronic Materials & Assembly

Overview

A global advanced materials organization is seeking a General Manager to lead a high-impact business segment focused on electronic assembly materials and related process technologies.

This role will provide full P&L ownership, along with strategic and operational leadership across manufacturing, commercial strategy, product portfolio management, and innovation. The General Manager will be responsible for driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, highly technical environment supporting electronics, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing markets.


Key Responsibilities

Business & Strategy Leadership

  • Define and execute the strategic vision and long-term roadmap for the business segment
  • Translate enterprise-level objectives into actionable plans that drive growth and market expansion
  • Identify new opportunities across core and adjacent markets, including product and application expansion
  • Lead portfolio optimization efforts, including product lifecycle management, pricing strategy, and SKU rationalization

P&L Ownership & Commercial Performance

  • Own full financial performance, including revenue, margin, and volume targets
  • Partner with regional and commercial teams to develop and execute sales strategies
  • Oversee demand planning and forecasting processes to support operational and commercial alignment
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance review processes, ensuring clear visibility into business health

Market & Customer Strategy

  • Develop compelling value propositions aligned with customer needs and competitive positioning
  • Drive customer segmentation strategies and commercialization initiatives
  • Ensure consistent messaging and positioning across product management, marketing, and sales channels

Innovation & Technology Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of the technology roadmap to support long-term growth
  • Identify gaps in current capabilities and prioritize innovation initiatives accordingly
  • Partner with engineering and technical teams to advance product development and validate new technologies
  • Ensure alignment between innovation efforts and commercial strategy

Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide leadership across manufacturing, materials recovery, and operational processes
  • Drive performance improvements across safety, quality, cost, and efficiency metrics
  • Partner with supply chain and operations teams to ensure alignment with financial and service objectives
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and process optimization

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, quality, EHS, and commercial teams
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple functions and geographies
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in advanced materials, electronics, specialty chemicals, or related industries
  • Proven track record of owning or influencing P&L performance
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in complex, process-driven manufacturing environments
  • Strong background in product management, commercialization, or portfolio leadership is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with demand planning, technology roadmapping, and new product introduction processes preferred
