General Manager
The General Manager will lead all aspects of operations at a large-scale distribution facility. This site supports warehousing, transportation, and value-added services including light kitting and assembly.
The Opportunity
The General Manager has full leadership responsibility for the site, including safety, quality, operations, maintenance, and financial performance (P&L). This role directs and coordinates operational activities at the highest level while ensuring efficient daily execution across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all operations within the distribution center, including routing/dispatch, receiving, inventory, warehouse operations, fleet/truck operations, and material handling.
- Maintain full accountability for site performance, including safety, quality, service, and cost management.
- Oversee all aspects of workforce management including hiring, training, performance management, and employee development.
- Develop and mentor supervisors and team leaders to effectively manage day-to-day operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance across all operations.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, safety practices, and service delivery.
- Partner cross-functionally to optimize warehouse layout, equipment utilization, and material flow.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, storage practices, and space utilization within the facility.
- Coordinate transportation schedules, routing, and dispatch activities to meet customer demand.
- Lead budgeting and financial planning for the site, including staffing models and capital equipment investments.
- Adjust staffing levels and operational plans to meet peak demand and business fluctuations.
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 6+ years of operations experience, including at least 3+ years leading a distribution center or similar facility.
- Proven experience with full P&L ownership and financial accountability.
- Strong background in distribution and warehouse operations (industry experience not required).
- Experience in non-union environments preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational systems.
