Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 (adjustable based on experience)

A global, privately held manufacturing organization is seeking an HSE Specialist to support environmental, health, and safety programs at its Des Moines, Iowa production facility. The HSE Specialist responsibilities include:
* Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs to support regulatory compliance and site safety initiatives
* Support and promote a strong Process Safety Management (PSM) culture within the HSE management system
* Create, update, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and documentation
* Conduct and deliver HSE training programs, including safety equipment demonstrations and risk awareness education
* Respond to incidents, deviations, and emergency situations, supporting site emergency response activities
* Investigate safety and environmental incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective and preventive actions
* Execute internal HSE audits and follow up on corrective actions to ensure closure and effectiveness
* Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports to regulatory agencies
* Track, analyze, and report HSE metrics, identifying trends and recommending improvements
* Provide HSE support for capital projects and operational initiatives
* Act as a resource and consultant to internal teams on HSE-related topics
* Partner cross-functionally to identify process improvements and strengthen safety performance
* Participate in development and execution of annual HSE plans and site initiatives
* Conduct hazard assessments and safety culture evaluations, coaching employees and leadership on best practices
* Promote a strong safety culture and reinforce individual accountability for health, safety, and environmental performance
The HSE Specialist should have the following qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
* Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred but not required
* Experience supporting HSE programs in a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements
* Experience delivering training and supporting incident investigations
* Proficiency with standard computer systems and HSE-related software tools
