Position Summary: Director of Logistics
The Director of Logistics for North America will lead logistics operations across the U.S. and Canada, overseeing more than 200,000 annual shipments and managing relationships with over 30 third-party warehouse locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that balance cost efficiency with high service levels.
- Lead a third-party logistics team of approximately 15 individuals, ensuring optimal system and personnel performance.
- Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships across a network of over 40 manufacturing sites.
- Design and execute competitive bid strategies informed by market intelligence and internal needs.
- Negotiate and manage logistics vendor contracts, ensuring performance standards are met or exceeded.
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with logistics providers to drive value and innovation.
- Enhance customer service metrics, including on-time pickups and deliveries, to achieve best-in-class standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define warehousing strategies and optimize network design.
- Oversee the sourcing and management of external warehousing to align with cost and capacity requirements.
- Manage procurement and redistribution of transit packaging across the logistics network.
- Lead import/export operations and ensure full compliance with customs and federal regulations.
- Evaluate and enhance the logistics organizational structure, capabilities, and skillsets.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, implementing industry best practices and staying current with trends.
- Develop and manage the annual logistics budget and provide quarterly forecasts for each business unit.
- Directly supervise a team of five logistics professionals.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, drive change, and deliver measurable improvements.
- Demonstrated success in developing talent and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Experience in high-volume, multi-site, global logistics operations.
- Strong track record of implementing strategies that enhance operational efficiency and financial outcomes.
- Proficiency with logistics systems such as TMS, freight payment platforms, and yard management tools.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a focus on cost reduction and service improvement.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity in business practices.
- Financial acumen and the ability to manage logistics-related financial impacts.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong service orientation.
- Familiarity with E2Open TMS and/or Logistics-as-a-Service (LaaS) platforms is a plus.
- This is an on-site position based in Tampa, Florida (hybrid work not available).
