Logistics Ops Manager, Transportation & Customer Excellence

SUMMARY

We're seeking a professional and strategic logistics leader to oversee transportation and customer excellence operations for a high-volume food distribution account supporting a major grocery retailer. This opportunity requires a strong customer-facing presence, deep food distribution experience, and full P&L ownership. The ideal candidate will drive operational performance, build trusted relationships with the customer, and lead a large team with a focus on continuous improvement, service excellence, and long-term growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a national grocery customer, ensuring top-tier service and operational excellence.
  • Lead a team of 50+ including drivers, managers, and customer service reps, with a focus on developing talent and building bench strength.
  • Developing and implementing Logistics & Transportation solutions and project management skills
  • Own and manage the P&L, driving performance through strategic planning, identifying service gaps, continuous improvement, and customer-focused solutions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and the customer to identify growth opportunities and implement service enhancements.
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and delivery protocols.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, urgency, and professionalism across the team.
  • Executive presence with the ability to lead, influence, and grow a high-performing team.
  • Strong background in food distribution, ideally with experience delivering into grocery or retail environments.
  • Proven success in customer-facing roles, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience managing large-scale transportation operations, including compliance, equipment, and service delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with continuous improvement, data analysis, and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in tools like Excel, Workday, and transportation systems (e-logs, DriveCam, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Or Supply Chain; Master's degree in related field preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in Logistics Management, leading large teams of Transportation and Customer Service Personnel
  • Strong background in food distribution, ideally supporting grocery or food retail clients.
  • Demonstrated success managing P&L and driving strategic business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and team-building skills.
  • Experience with safety programs, labor planning, and performance management.
  • Knowledge of truck brokerage and sales operations
