Location: Greater Mankato area, MN
Employment Type: Full‑time
Shift: Second Shift (4:00 PM - 1:00 AM)
Overtime: Eligible for Saturday overtime

About the Role

A leading food manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to lead maintenance operations at a high‑volume production facility. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, plant safety, and operational efficiency while leading a skilled maintenance team in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.
This position is a second‑shift leadership role, supporting evening operations and ensuring seamless maintenance coverage during critical production hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team, including supervisors, technicians, and contractors
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards (e.g., GMPs, HACCP, OSHA)
  • Partner with operations, quality, and engineering teams to support production goals
  • Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and external service providers
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, cost reduction, and safety
  • Analyze equipment performance and downtime data to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and plant upgrades as needed
  • Provide leadership coverage during second‑shift operations and coordinate weekend maintenance as required

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (food or beverage strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC, and automation systems
  • Proven experience managing teams in a union or non‑union environment
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance planning best practices
  • Solid understanding of food safety and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work second shift hours (4:00 PM - 1:00 AM) and support Saturday overtime as needed

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent technical training and experience will be considered
