Manufacturing Engineer
Supports the organization by designing and developing manufacturing processes to produce precision machined components. Duties include writing step-by-step part processing plans, developing tooling/fixturing for assembly/testing/machining, setting quality and cost standards, and implementing lean process improvements.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and improve manufacturing methods using basic engineering principles in product design, assembly techniques, and quality controls.
- Test assembled components to quantities and specifications per print.
- Evaluate work cell layouts to improve manpower utilization, workflow, and floor space using Lean techniques.
- Identify and eliminate manufacturing waste throughout all stages of production.
- Analyze manufacturing issues to validate, establish, and execute projects with the largest positive impact.
- Develop job aids including tooling, fixtures, metrology, and visuals by working with internal resources and external vendors.
- Assure product and process quality by designing measuring methods, establishing standards, and validating processes.
- Document existing manufacturing processes and new product introductions accurately.
- Follow standard work practices for manufacturing engineering.
- Apply basic engineering principles.
- Interface regularly with managers and engineers to ensure clear communication in a leadership role.
- Lead design for manufacturability, prepare process FMEAs, root cause analyses, plan facility/equipment/resource changes, initial builds, and ensure deliverables are completed on time.
- Research state-of-the-art equipment, automation techniques, testing systems, and plan factory layouts to optimize production.
- Participate in investigations and responses to internal improvement requests.
