Mechanical Engineering Manager

Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the design, development, and lifecycle support of complex electromechanical products. This role oversees technical execution, team development, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality, manufacturable designs that meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers, designers, and technical specialists.
  • Define team objectives, set performance expectations, and conduct regular coaching and reviews.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and solutions‑focused engineering culture.

Product Development & Engineering Execution

  • Oversee mechanical design activities for new product development, sustaining engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Guide the team through requirements definition, concept generation, prototyping, detailed design, analysis, and release to manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, internal quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Review and approve detailed drawings, 3D models, engineering change orders, and documentation.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management to ensure integrated product development.
  • Provide technical input during project planning, cost estimation, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in design reviews, cross-functional troubleshooting, and production readiness activities.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion best practices in mechanical design, documentation, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability/assembly (DFM/DFA).
  • Drive adoption of new tools, methodologies, and technologies that enhance product quality and engineering efficiency.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product or process issues.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including exposure to full product lifecycle development.
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership or technical team management experience.
  • Strong expertise in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and engineering analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with DFM/DFA principles and working with contract manufacturers or internal production teams.
