OEM Procurement Manager
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the OEM Procurement Manager will lead the sourcing and contracting of power generation equipment and long-lead high- and medium-voltage (HV/MV) electrical components for utility-scale projects. This role requires strong knowledge of OEM markets, established supplier relationships, and the commercial expertise to negotiate agreements that optimize cost, performance, and schedule certainty.
OEM Equipment Sourcing & Contracting
- Lead sourcing, negotiation, and execution of Equipment Supply Agreements (ESAs) for major power generation assets, including gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), and related balance-of-plant equipment.
- Manage procurement of long-lead HV/MV equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and substation components from leading OEMs.
- Support development and negotiation of Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSAs), ensuring balanced commercial terms covering maintenance, parts, monitoring, performance guarantees, and availability.
- Negotiate Reservation Agreements to secure manufacturing capacity during periods of high demand or extended lead times.
- Maintain deep understanding of OEM commercial models, including warranties, performance guarantees, risk allocation, and pricing escalation structures.
Market Intelligence & Supply Chain Management
- Track and analyze lead times, capacity constraints, and pricing benchmarks across key OEM markets.
- Monitor supply chain risks, market shifts, and commodity trends, proactively communicating impacts and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with supply chain and project teams to address schedule challenges through alternative sourcing, expediting, and phased delivery strategies.
- Leverage OEM relationships to enable early supplier engagement and strengthen commercial positioning on new projects.
Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with project timelines and business objectives.
- Provide early-stage project support with cost estimates, lead-time insights, and market intelligence.
- Identify supply risks for long-lead equipment and implement contingency plans to protect project delivery.
Sourcing & Proposal Management
- Lead end-to-end RFP/RFQ processes, including scope development, supplier engagement, proposal evaluation, and negotiation.
- Partner with engineering, project management, and finance teams on both technical and commercial assessments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with development, engineering, project, finance, and legal teams throughout the procurement lifecycle.
- Deliver regular updates on procurement status, risks, lead times, and cost projections.
- Support compliance, governance, and audit requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or commercial management within capital-intensive, project-based industries.
- Proven track record sourcing power generation and long-lead HV/MV equipment, including turbines, transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear (required).
- Strong relationships with major OEMs and familiarity with their commercial and contractual practices.
- In-depth knowledge of current market lead times and pricing benchmarks.
- Demonstrated success negotiating ESAs, including risk allocation, warranties, and performance guarantees.
- Experience in utility power, renewable energy, or energy infrastructure sectors.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Experience working for an owner/developer or IPP environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with Reservation Agreements to secure OEM production capacity.
- Ability to develop creative solutions to supply constraints and lead-time challenges.
- Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance cost, risk, and schedule.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and procurement packages in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative mindset.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel within the U.S. up to 25%.
