Powertrain Design Engineer
Our client, a leading vehicle manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Powertrain Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This role will lead the full product development lifecycle for powertrain components and systems, driving innovation, reliability, and performance from concept through production launch.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on engineer with strong Creo proficiency, deep experience in powertrain systems, and a track record of leading design projects in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end product development for powertrain systems and components-from concept, modeling, and prototype build through validation and production release.
- Create and manage detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Creo.
- Apply strong working knowledge of GD&T to ensure design accuracy, tolerance stack-up integrity, and manufacturability.
- Conduct and document PFMEA (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and support DFMEA activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, testing, quality, and supply chain to ensure seamless program execution.
- Support prototype builds, testing activities, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee engineering changes, BOM updates, and release processes according to company standards.
- Ensure compliance with internal technical requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
- Evaluate new technologies and materials to improve performance, durability, cost, and manufacturability.
Must-Have Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, or related discipline).
- 3+ years of experience in powertrain or powertrain component design (engines, transmissions, driveline, cooling, fuel systems, etc.).
- Proficiency in Creo for 3D modeling, assemblies, surfacing, and detailed drawings.
- Demonstrated experience working through the full product development lifecycle in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T.
- Experience conducting or supporting PFMEA activities.
- Proven ability to lead design projects, manage deadlines, and drive results across functional teams.
