QA Engineer 3
Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned QA Engineer III to lead quality assurance efforts across engineering, procurement, and construction activities. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining quality standards, developing testing protocols, and supporting cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and improve quality procedures and plans to ensure delivery of high-quality products and services.
- Monitor project execution to verify adherence to quality controls and project specifications.
- Conduct reviews of engineering designs and modifications to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Participate in design reviews as the QA representative and provide guidance on quality requirements.
- Support investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action processes.
- Train and mentor quality inspectors and junior QA engineers on procedures and best practices.
- Perform audits, assessments, and walkthroughs to evaluate process effectiveness and compliance.
- Evaluate supplier performance, conduct on-site inspections, and oversee quality aspects of procurement and fabrication.
- Provide QA training across departments and assist in resolving quality-related issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of quality methodologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field (nuclear engineering preferred).
- Equivalent experience (2-8 years) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Certifications:
- Lead Auditor certification per NQA-1 (preferred).
- ASQ certification (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years in quality assurance engineering.
- At least 5 years in program management.
- 15+ years in audit/assessment leadership, including planning, execution, and reporting.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- In-depth knowledge of NQA-1, DOE QA regulations, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with nuclear QA design control, causal analysis, and safety management systems.
- Understanding of fabrication/testing processes for mechanical and electrical systems.
