Senior Procurement Manager
We are supporting a leading renewable energy developer on their search for a Senior Procurement Manager to oversee BESS strategy execution. This role sits within the procurement organization and is responsible for driving strategic sourcing initiatives for battery energy storage system (BESS) equipment across utility‑scale projects. The Manager will lead supplier negotiations, manage equipment RFPs, and develop procurement strategies informed by market intelligence, working closely with project management, engineering, finance, and operations teams to ensure optimal commercial outcomes across cost, schedule, and risk.
Responsibilities
- Lead negotiations for energy storage equipment supply agreements, ensuring commercial terms and technical requirements align with project objectives and market standards
- Drive strategic procurement initiatives in coordination with cross‑functional stakeholders, including project management, engineering, operations, and finance
- Develop market insights on BESS technology, pricing trends, supply chain dynamics, and emerging solutions to inform sourcing strategy
- Lead the development and execution of RFPs for energy storage equipment, including scope definition, bid evaluation, and supplier selection
- Analyze vendor responses and procurement options to support equipment selection and commercial decision‑making
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with major equipment suppliers and manufacturers to support sourcing strategy and vendor evaluation
- Coordinate with project development and pre‑construction teams to align procurement activities with project timelines, scope, and equipment requirements
- Identify procurement risks related to supply chain constraints, pricing volatility, and technology considerations and proactively recommend mitigation strategies
- Develop and maintain internal tools, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to evaluate vendor performance and support procurement decisions
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience within the energy industry, ideally in procurement, sourcing, project management, or engineering functions
- Strong commercial negotiation skills with an understanding of contract structures and procurement processes
- Experience managing complex sourcing initiatives or vendor relationships
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
