DSJ Global is currently partnered with a food and beverage manufacturer looking to bring on a Supply Planning manager to their team in either Minneapolis, MN, Donthan, AL, Roberson, NC, or EL Paso, TX.

The Supply Planning Manager oversees the entire production planning process, ensuring efficient execution from demand forecasting to the delivery of finished goods. This role manages a 13-week rolling production plan, coordinates plant-level scheduling, and collaborates across departments to optimize capacity, inventory, and service levels. The manager is integral to the S&OP process, drives performance reporting, and leads initiatives to enhance planning processes and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning: Maintain a 13-week rolling production plan, incorporating actual production requirements, available capacity, and insights from leadership on new business opportunities. Continuously analyze and mitigate risks related to material lead times and project deadlines.
  • Scheduling Coordination: Lead and coordinate activities with Plant Schedulers, providing working plans for each site, including rough-cut capacity planning (monthly) and developing the weekly schedule. Communicate a weekly master production schedule and work directly with Plant Schedulers to create weekly plant schedules.
  • Forecasting and Inventory Management: Lead the planning organization in forecasting needs, analyzing movement patterns, product deployment, performance reporting, and inventory management. Collaborate with top-level leadership to review forecasts and identify opportunities to utilize open capacity.
  • S&OP Participation: Participate in the monthly S&OP process to review performance against schedule, inventory strategy, supply plan, and resource implications. Identify gaps and drive solutions to improve production performance.
  • KPI Tracking: Track and report KPIs such as adherence and attainment, and hours planned vs. actual, ensuring targets are met.
  • Compliance and Control: Ensure compliance with established procedures and maintain effective internal control over physical product flow and inventory levels in both plant and DC operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales & Marketing, R&D, Operations, Finance, Procurement, FSQA, and other groups to support product launches and business initiatives. Collaborate with Demand Planning to consider lead time and resource capacity requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Establish and maintain safety stock and inventory balances to meet production requirements at the lowest feasible levels. Monitor excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventories, coordinating shelf-life extensions with FSQA and warehouse personnel.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and communicate potential capacity and material supply chain issues. Ensure planning parameters and key assumptions are regularly reviewed and updated. Monitor execution to plan and ensure appropriate inventory allocation.
  • Workflow Coordination: Coordinate activities and workflow for finished goods, raw materials, and packaging with plant schedulers to align production and material handling.
  • Order Fulfillment: Monitor and investigate to ensure all process and purchase orders are fulfilled. Collaborate to resolve materials management issues affecting inventory and service level targets.
  • Meeting Facilitation: Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with stakeholders. Organize and lead daily customer service calls.
  • Engineering Coordination: Coordinate with Engineering on capital installs and upgrades, providing time frames for asset availability and deadlines to meet customer expectations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the planning process and drive projects to completion. Communicate effectively across organizational lines to introduce mid-term changes and manage exceptions.
  • Other Duties: Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in supply chain and/or manufacturing across planning, sourcing, making, and delivering. Previous experience in scheduling, demand planning, and program management is required. Prior experience leading multi-plant scheduling and material management functions is preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with diverse groups within and outside the company. Operational understanding of food manufacturing and consumer packaged goods financial management is a plus. Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships. Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred), Oracle, BI tools, or Tableau. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills. Proven ability to prioritize and manage deadlines. Proficiency in PowerPoint and data visualization.
  • Supervision: Supervises Production Schedulers.
