Buyer
A global manufacturer of caster and wheel products is seeking a Buyer. This fully onsite role, based in Saint Joseph, MI, involves purchasing drop ship container items from international suppliers and ensuring timely delivery of quality parts. The Buyer will also manage supplier communications and support cross-functional teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review purchasing suggestions and issue purchase orders
- Identify cost and inventory reduction opportunities
- Process monthly supplier scorecards
- Support new product development teams
- Manage supplier interactions (ordering, delivery, invoicing)
- Update daily procurement reports
- Provide backup support to other buyers and freight specialists
- Handle rejected materials and coordinate supplier chargebacks
- Execute engineering changes with suppliers
- Follow up and expedite purchase orders daily
Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication
- Ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Team-oriented with strong relationship-building skills
- Experience with international suppliers
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Experience with MRP systems; Epicor preferred
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred
- 1-2 years of related experience
- Certifications (C.P.M., C.P.S.M.) are a plus
