Director Parts Operations
The Director of Parts Operations is a senior leadership position accountable for the overall performance of the parts business, including full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility. This role drives operational excellence across forecasting, procurement, inventory management, order fulfillment, and customer experience. Success requires a data-driven approach, ownership of key performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and profitability. The ideal candidate blends analytical expertise with strong cross-functional leadership to align parts operations with broader organizational goals.
Core Responsibilities
Financial & Commercial Leadership
- Own the financial results of the parts division, including revenue growth, cost management, margin optimization, and forecasting.
- Develop and execute sales strategies for service parts, identifying opportunities across channels and customer segments.
- Define pricing and promotional strategies to drive profitability and market share.
- Collaborate with service and sales teams to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs.
- Lead process improvements to eliminate bottlenecks and enhance scalability.
Demand Planning & Analytics
- Build and maintain accurate forecasts using historical trends, market insights, and business intelligence.
- Monitor KPIs such as forecast accuracy, inventory turns, fill rates, and service levels.
- Analyze demand drivers, seasonality, product lifecycle changes, and promotional impacts to refine planning.
- Leverage advanced planning tools and ERP systems for forecasting and scenario modeling.
Inventory Optimization
- Implement strategies to balance inventory levels, reduce excess, and minimize stockouts.
- Establish safety stock and reorder parameters aligned with service level goals.
- Apply segmentation techniques (e.g., ABC analysis) to optimize inventory performance.
- Support new product launches and promotional programs with aligned parts planning.
Supplier & Procurement Management
- Negotiate supplier agreements and manage vendor performance to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Conduct regular supplier reviews using KPIs such as lead time, fill rate, and responsiveness.
- Introduce stocking programs, consignment models, or vendor-managed inventory solutions.
Order Fulfillment & Customer Experience
- Oversee end-to-end order processing to ensure timely, accurate delivery and high customer satisfaction.
- Proactively manage backorders and coordinate with supply chain teams to minimize delays.
- Implement quality checks to reduce errors in picking, packing, and shipping.
- Maintain transparent communication with customers regarding order status and changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in parts operations, supply chain, or service management.
- Expertise in forecasting tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, SysPro, IBP, Logility).
- Advanced Excel and data analytics skills; experience with BI tools preferred.
- Proven record of P&L ownership and driving revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of procurement, inventory management, and production planning.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience in high-volume, high-SKU environments preferred.
