About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Global Head of Industrial Design (Smart Home or IoT Appliances) to lead our design strategy and execution across hardware, software, and system solutions. This role is pivotal in shaping a premium brand experience that resonates globally, driving innovation and differentiation in highly competitive markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Design Strategy & Brand Premium

  • Develop and implement a forward-looking global design strategy that aligns product aesthetics and user experience with diverse market preferences.
  • Leverage user research, trend analysis, and competitor insights to create innovative designs that reinforce brand positioning and value proposition.
  • Ensure design solutions foster user recognition, emotional resonance, and differentiated competitiveness.

2. Flagship Product Development & Brand Management

  • Lead the industrial design of the core products, establishing a structured, scalable brand design DNA.
  • Build and refine the Brand System, including a comprehensive Design portal, including color, material and finish as well as interaction logic.
  • Drive internal implementation across UI/UX, packaging, and brand visuals, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Elevate brand awareness through design language upgrades.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration & Business Alignment

  • Champion collaboration between design teams (UI, packaging) and brand, product, UX, marketing, R&D, and supply chain teams.
  • Ensure seamless integration of hardware interaction with the mobile app functionality and alignment of product usage scenarios with content services.
  • Optimize Design-to-Manufacturability to balance innovation with production feasibility, reducing development risks.
  • Align design innovation with business goals, driving measurable impact on GMV growth and brand premium.

4. Team Leadership & Design Culture

  • Lead a team of 20-30 designers, defining talent development paths and building robust training systems.
  • Establish design review and decision-making mechanisms to ensure solutions deliver both commercial value and superior user experience.
  • Foster a design-driven culture across the organization, influencing strategic decisions and amplifying design's role in value creation.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor or above in Industrial Design, Art Design or retalted disciplines
  • 15+ years in product design, including 5+ years with leadership management
  • Proven success in building and implementing systems and leading flagship product design from concept to launch.
  • Consumer electronics, smart home and IoT appliances with deep understanding of integrated hardware-software-service experiences.
  • Strategic and forward-thinking, adept at user research, trend analysis, and competitor benchmarking.
  • Strong system-building capability, correlating design innovation with business KPIs (GMV, brand premium, market share).
  • Exceptional leadership and cross-functional influence, with a track record of attracting and developing top design talent.
