This role is responsible for leading and overseeing planned and unplanned maintenance activities within a heavy manufacturing environment, with a focus on reliability excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. The Maintenance Superintendent will manage supervisors, planners, and skilled trades while driving a strong culture of problem-solving, employee development, and operational excellence. This position supports 24/7 operations and includes on-call responsibilities.
As the Maintenance Superintendent, you will:
- Lead maintenance teams supporting Hot Mill operations, including repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability
- Deploy Reliability Excellence tools and continuous improvement initiatives across the department
- Ensure execution of EHS initiatives, regulatory compliance, and company standards
- Develop and mentor maintenance supervisors, planners, and technicians through coaching and performance management
- Drive strategic maintenance planning to improve uptime, labor efficiency, and material cost performance
- Manage department budgets, forecasts, and cost improvement activities while partnering with Procurement on contracts and services
The Maintenance Superintendent should have:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- 6+ years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment with supervisory responsibility
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
- Experience with industrial reliability and maintenance systems in a union plant environment preferred
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and lean manufacturing principles
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cultural change, and work across all levels of the organization
