Process Engineer
DSJ Global is currently partnered with an industry leading inks and coating manufacturer who is looking to add on a new Process Engineer to their team in Des Moines, IA. The Process Engineer will lead and execute capital projects and process improvements within a manufacturing environment. This role partners with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and optimize equipment, processes, and systems that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance. The position serves as a technical expert who supports production, resolves complex issues, and drives continuous improvement initiatives from concept through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead small to large capital projects, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, construction, and commissioning
- Develop project charters, business cases, estimates, and milestone schedules; manage project execution to plan
- Provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes, equipment design, installation, and start‑ups
- Serve as a technical liaison to production and operations, addressing process, quality, and performance issues
- Troubleshoot complex manufacturing and equipment problems using structured problem‑solving methods
- Develop, maintain, and standardize process documentation, specifications, and engineering standards
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction
- Support new process and equipment introductions, including training, documentation, and startup support
- Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders on technical solutions and innovation
- Ensure all projects meet safety, regulatory, and quality requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
- 2-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or chemical process environment
- Experience managing capital projects and cross‑functional teams
- Strong knowledge of process design, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with CAD tools and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Teams)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills
- Self‑directed, adaptable, and effective in a fast‑paced environment
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
