Production Supervisor
The Production Supervisor provides leadership and coordination across all aspects of paper mill and shipping operations during assigned shifts. This role is responsible for ensuring safety, quality, and production efficiency while managing resources to meet operational goals. Reporting to the Paper Mill Superintendent, the Production Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining continuity of operations, coaching hourly personnel, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with corporate, state, and federal environmental and occupational health standards.
- Maintain adherence to ISO Quality System responsibilities and ensure product quality standards are met.
- Supervise hourly workforce to maintain continuity in safety, quality, and production; minimize lost time and downtime.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency.
- Assign and direct work to meet production schedules and maintain quality output.
- Coordinate with other supervisors and departments to optimize maintenance and production scheduling.
- Review performance and cost reports; recommend and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Counsel and coach employees; develop training plans focused on operational and safety excellence.
- Assist in crew scheduling and ensure proper staffing levels.
- Write and follow up on work orders; accurately report safety, quality, and operational issues for resolution.
- Understand and apply the Union/Management agreement in daily operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or a minimum of 3 years of paper industry experience with supervisory background.
- Strong understanding of paper mill operations, process flows, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work effectively with both management and hourly personnel across departments.
- Commitment to continuing education in paper operations, leadership, and technology.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
