Senior Global Packaging Engineer (M/F/D)
A global life sciences company is seeking a Global Packaging Engineer to join its international operations team. This is a newly created, strategic role designed to shape the future of packaging across a diverse product portfolio, including diagnostic kits, cold chain logistics, and complex instrumentation. The company is committed to sustainability, innovation, and regulatory excellence, and this role is pivotal in aligning packaging operations with evolving global standards.
Role
As a (Senior) Global Packaging Engineer, you will:
- Lead the definition of future packaging requirements and ensure compliance with global regulations.
- Oversee and streamline the global packaging materials portfolio, aligning with operational needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and act as a technical mentor to existing packaging staff.
- Evaluate industry trends and technologies to drive innovation and sustainability.
- Define and implement data systems (e.g. SAP) for packaging material tracking and regulatory reporting.
- Support the company's Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team in navigating complex packaging regulations.
- Influence global teams without direct reporting lines, acting as a trusted advisor and problem-solver.
Requirements
- University degree in Packaging Technology or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in packaging development, ideally in regulated industries.
- Expertise in corrugated cardboard, plastic packaging, and cold chain logistics.
- Familiarity with dangerous goods shipping and dry ice packaging.
- Experience with SAP or similar systems for data tracking and compliance.
- Strong understanding of current and emerging packaging regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English; German is a plus.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 6 times per year.
