Job Description
This position represents the fourth level in the engineering career series. Incumbents lead complex engineering projects and initiatives. This role does not include direct reports.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO

- Evaluate current safety procedures and recommend improvements for the benefit of all employees.

- Identify customer needs by assessing problems and safety concerns; develop and evaluate solutions to define project scope.
- Prepare and assemble engineering packages and documentation for assigned projects, including designs, calculations, layouts, schematics, manuals, and bid specifications.
- Establish project teams, facilitate meetings, and maintain documentation.
Collaboration
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure equipment meets safety, schedule, and specification requirements.
- Manage purchasing for project materials, including vendor review, negotiation, and delivery coordination.
- Assist in interviewing candidates for departmental openings.
- Communicate all relevant information promptly to stakeholders inside and outside the organization.
Accountability
- Oversee project costs, schedules, and communications for multiple complex engineering projects.
- Complete project closeout and postmortem analysis.

- Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay current on industry practices and apply them to company products and equipment.
- Lead mid- to large-scale project installations, start-up, and training.
- Identify improvement opportunities and develop actionable proposals.

ROLE EMPHASIS
Facilities
- Improve engineering design, layouts, and installations; develop and validate facility infrastructure systems.
- Perform engineering calculations and create technical drawings using software tools.
Controls
- Design and implement programming, configuration, and integration for HMI, SCADA, and PLC systems.
- Test and validate machine instrumentation and foster IT integration for engineering functions.
Mechanical
- Conceptualize and design mechanical systems; perform calculations and validate designs.
- Create and review technical drawings and specifications.
Electrical
- Design electrical systems; perform calculations and validate designs.
- Create and review technical drawings and specifications.
Industrial
- Conduct studies for cost control, inventory, and production systems; implement optimized product flow.
- Validate automation requirements and collaborate on solutions using Lean and Just-In-Time principles.
- Collect and analyze data for large-scale projects; establish simulation baselines and propose improvements to cycle time, throughput, and resource utilization.
IoT
- Conceptualize and design solutions for data collection, analysis, SPC, machine learning, and AI.
- Develop testing processes and validate IoT systems.
- Deploy IoT technology solutions to support business objectives.
WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science & Engineering, Controls/Automation, or related technical field)
- 10+ years of experience
- Experience in flexible packaging engineering projects or similar industries
- Above-average performance record
- Ability to travel up to 30%
