Principal Controls Engineer
Are you passionate about designing custom automation and functional test systems used in manufacturing environments? Join the Test & Automation Team as a Senior Staff Controls Engineer and help drive innovation across advanced manufacturing operations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working hands-on with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, industrial robotics (Fanuc, Epson, UR), and vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence. You'll focus on designing, integrating, and programming one-of-a-kind automation and test systems that improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and reliability.
What You'll Do
- Design and deploy automation solutions incorporating motion control, motors, servo presses, sensors, gages, and SCADA systems.
- Lead electrical controls development for custom machines and test platforms supporting global manufacturing operations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact improvements to manufacturing processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 8+ years of controls and automation experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming (Logix 5000, RSLinx), robotics, and vision systems.
- Clear communicator with a collaborative, solutions-driven mindset.
- Familiarity with tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Power BI, and mistake-proofing methodologies.
- Proven ability to drive projects from concept through deployment.
Location & Travel
- Location: West Lebanon, NH (relocation assistance available)
- Travel: Up to 10% domestic and international
