This role focuses on ensuring seamless compatibility between high-performance conductors and third-party hardware. Key product experience includes dead-ends, splices, clamps, and fittings. The ideal candidate will work closely with external partners and internal teams to validate system-level performance, support field implementation, and drive innovation in hardware design and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hardware manufacturers and stranding partners to ensure mechanical and electrical compatibility.
  • Lead the qualification and validation of third-party hardware, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and installation standards.
  • Conduct full-system testing, including mechanical, thermal, electrical, and vibration assessments.
  • Perform supplier evaluations, technical audits, and manufacturing inspections.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, quality standards, and installation guidelines for integrated hardware solutions.
  • Support field deployment by providing engineering guidance and creating detailed documentation such as installation manuals, drawings, and BOMs.
  • Research and evaluate materials, coatings, and mechanical designs to enhance system reliability, especially under high-temperature or insulated conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (ASTM, IEEE, IEC, ANSI/NEMA) and utility requirements.
  • Contribute to joint development initiatives with partners to advance hardware solutions for emerging grid technologies, including optical fiber integration.

Qualifications
Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in T&D hardware evaluation, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PTC Creo).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and common T&D hardware components.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5-8 years of experience in hardware integration, supplier qualification, and system-level testing.
  • Hands-on experience with lab testing (tensile, fatigue, thermal cycling, vibration).
  • Knowledge of FEM simulations and material science, including composites and metallurgy.
  • Experience supporting field installations and full-system performance validation.
