About the Role
We are currently partnering with an international logistics provider to hire an Air Freight Team Leader to join their operations team in Brussels. This role will play a key part in driving a leaner and more efficient air freight setup, combining hands-on operational responsibility with team leadership and commercial awareness.
You will act as the right hand to the Hiring Manager, overseeing day-to-day air freight activities while supporting team performance, service delivery, and customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end air import and export operations (booking to delivery)
- Supervise and support a small team, ensuring productivity and service quality
- Coordinate with airlines, agents, customs brokers, and transport providers
- Manage operational KPIs, service levels, and customer expectations
- Act as escalation point for complex or time-sensitive shipments
- Support commercial activities, including client communication and solution development
- Drive process improvements to support a lean and efficient operational structure
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across operations and sales
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years experience within air freight forwarding
- Strong hands-on experience across both import & export air operations
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience (or clear leadership potential)
- Solid understanding of customs procedures and international air freight flows
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness with a balanced operations + client-facing mindset
- Fluent Dutch & English required; French is a plus
