Buyer - Ingredients

A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a Buyer to join its corporate headquarters in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This full-time, onsite position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely procurement and delivery of ingredients for production. The role involves close collaboration with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, manage supplier performance, and support strategic sourcing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage replenishment of materials, coordinating shipments from various supplier locations while considering lead times, order quantities, storage constraints, and shelf life.
• Optimize order quantities to balance production demand with financial and logistical resources.
• Lead reverse logistics efforts in partnership with internal teams when material issues arise.
• Ensure compliance with volume, pricing, delivery terms, and freight cost accuracy.
• Handle crisis situations effectively, demonstrating strong multitasking and problem-solving skills.
• Conduct Supplier Business Reviews to drive performance improvements.
• Support strategic sourcing activities, including documentation, regulatory compliance, sample evaluations, and financial audits.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement value-driven initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work 100% onsite in Marlborough, MA.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Experience building collaborative relationships across departments, especially with plant personnel.
• Demonstrated success in managing supplier performance and driving continuous improvement.
• Ability to mentor and coach junior purchasing staff.
• Prior experience in food manufacturing purchasing is a plus.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as Syspro is a plus.
