Category Manager, Capex
A leading pharmaceutical company is seeking a strategic and experienced Global Category Manager to oversee procurement within the Technical Spend categories, including Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO), select Facility Management areas, and Capital Expenditures (CAPEX).
This role will primarily support three sites globally and be instrumental in the companies production expansion as they invest over 130m EUR on a brand new state-of-the-art production site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement procurement strategies in alignment with the company's global objectives, collaborating with senior stakeholders.
- Global Coordination: Manage sourcing activities across multiple sites, ensuring cohesive category strategies and successful execution.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with senior management and cross-functional teams to drive category and sourcing excellence.
- Procurement Activities: Oversee global and local MRO & CAPEX procurement activities, including engineering services, OEM process equipment, construction, and CQV services.
- Project Management: Act as an escalation point to ensure CAPEX & MRO projects adhere to timelines, implementing mitigation initiatives as needed.
- Negotiations and Contracting: Lead negotiations and contracting activities for all levels of CAPEX investments.
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of Category Specialists, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to foster a high-performance culture.
- Supplier Management: Develop and maintain supplier relationships, set KPIs, evaluate performance, resolve disputes, and manage supplier visits.
- Risk Management: Identify and evaluate new suppliers, negotiate contracts, manage supplier portfolios, and develop mitigation plans to manage supply risk.
- Cost Efficiency: Initiate and support global cost-saving and efficiency projects, focusing on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Data Management: Manage spend and savings data, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong background in global category management and technical procurement.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Pharma-Engineering and familiarity with contract standards like FIDIC.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership experience with the ability to provide role modeling, set priorities, and ensure accountability.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Analytical and Negotiation Skills: Strong analytical abilities and negotiation skills to achieve the best outcomes.
- Strategic Thinking: Organisational and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a VUCA environment and tackle local and global supply chain challenges.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (spoken and written).
