Title: Category Manager

Location: Houston, TX

Salary Range: $100,000.00 To $130,000.00 Annually

Summary: This position is responsible for supporting and leading strategic sourcing initiatives and the procurement of chemicals across the U.S. and Canada. Strong communication, problem-solving, facilitation, negotiation, and project management skills are essential for success in this role. This is a very well-known, international company with a lot of room for growth. The position is based in Houston, Texas, with occasional travel (approximately 10-15%) to trade shows, supplier locations, and international company offices or manufacturing sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing & Spend Analysis: Identify cost-saving opportunities through data-driven insights and market intelligence.
  • Supplier & Contract Management: Build strong supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with quality, cost, and sustainability goals.
  • Procurement Operations: Support purchase orders and sourcing events (RFx), with a preference for experience in e-procurement platforms.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing, legal, finance, and technical teams to align sourcing strategies with business goals.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement: Track supplier performance, lead improvement initiatives, and present key findings to stakeholders.
  • Market Engagement: Stay ahead of trends, attend trade shows, and lead knowledge-sharing sessions to keep teams informed and aligned

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience/Skills:
    • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Supply Chain Management, Business management or related fields.
    • 3+ Years Experience in Procurement of Chemicals.
    • Knowledge of the chemicals industry, or related chemical manufacturing environment.
    • Knowledge and experience working in ERP System. (Datacor/Oracle/SAP)
