Overview:
A well-established and growing organization in the aerospace, defense, and electronics sectors is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations and ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in manufacturing finance and a passion for process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close processes including journal entries, operating reports, and account analysis.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial schedules, tax documentation, and state filings.
- Develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
- Manage fixed assets and support capital expenditure planning.
- Review inventory for obsolescence and excess in line with company policy.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
- Collaborate with internal audit to maintain financial controls and SOX compliance.
- Oversee system access reviews and inventory cycle counts.
- Serve as primary check signer for cash disbursements.
- Provide financial insights to support cost control and operational efficiency.
- Maintain and improve cost accounting procedures and standards.
- Partner with operations leadership to analyze production data, margins, and performance metrics.
- Create and manage reports for internal and external stakeholders using advanced Excel functions.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing finance role.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex scenarios.
