Job Title: Cost Estimator
Location: Houston, TX
Salary: $ 110,000 - $125,000 base + 5% bonus target
Summary:
A reputable shipbuilding company is seeking an experienced Cost Estimator in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities:
The ideal Cost Estimator will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for competitive hard bid projects.
- Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify key scope requirements and potential risks.
- Prepare and deliver clear, professional presentations of cost estimates and project assumptions to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop comprehensive estimating strategies and solutions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, project management, and other support teams throughout the estimating process.
- Manage multiple estimating assignments simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide estimating and cost support to Project Managers during project execution, including site-related matters as needed.
- Monitor project costs, production metrics, budgets, and forecast performance throughout the construction life cycle.
Qualifications:
The ideal Cost Estimator will have the following skill set:
- B.S. degree in either Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration; or equivalent and relevant work experience
- 5+ years of experience in dredging, marine construction, or a related heavy civil construction environment, with direct involvement in project estimating, planning, or execution.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and managing complex hard-bid estimates for large-scale projects valued at $25 million or greater.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, including cost development, resource planning, and project execution strategies.
