Role Overview

We are seeking a forward-thinking Customs Project Manager to join our Paris-based team. This role bridges the gap between customs operations, technology, and AI-driven transformation, leading strategic initiatives to enhance our digital customs capabilities in France and across the region.

As a Customs Project Manager, you will drive end-to-end project execution for IT and AI initiatives impacting customs procedures, compliance systems, and digital integration with customs authorities. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, data science, operations, and compliance to create smarter, more automated customs processes.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead and manage customs-related IT and AI development projects from initiation to rollout.

  • Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, and success metrics.

  • Act as the key liaison between customs subject matter experts, developers, and business stakeholders.

Technology & AI Integration

  • Translate customs business requirements into technical specifications.

  • Work with data teams to develop AI models for classification, anomaly detection, document automation, etc.

  • Oversee the implementation of customs compliance tools, automated workflows, and API integrations with customs systems (e.g., DELTA, EU systems).

Process Optimisation

  • Identify opportunities to automate or digitise customs clearance processes, risk analysis, and compliance checks.

  • Champion best practices in digital customs operations and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including IT, operations, legal, and third-party vendors.

  • Provide regular project updates to leadership and communicate effectively across functions.

Change Management & Training

  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and onboarding for new tools or systems.

  • Drive change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of digital customs solutions.


What We're Looking For

  • 3-6+ years of experience in customs operations, project management, or IT within the freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain sectors.

  • Strong understanding of French and EU customs regulations (DELT@, ICS2, REX, etc.).

  • Experience in digital transformation, ideally involving automation, AI, or machine learning.

  • Familiarity with customs systems, EDI/API integrations, and customs clearance platforms.

  • Strong project management skills (agile or hybrid preferred).

  • Technical background or working knowledge of software development lifecycles is a plus.

  • Excellent communication in French and English.
