Director, Engineering Project Management

The Director of Engineering Project Management will lead a global team of project managers, driving the execution of multiple concurrent engineering initiatives aligned to key business goals. This role requires strong leadership and broad technical expertise, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into effective project delivery. The Director will also mentor project managers, support the technical road map, and promote a culture of continuous improvement while partnering closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead and oversee a global team of Engineering Project and Program Managers supporting multiple business units worldwide
  • Establish and implement best-in-class project management processes and tools to effectively plan, execute, and track a diverse portfolio of global initiatives, including production scale-ups, new technology development, systems engineering, and large-scale capital projects such as site builds and expansions
  • Take ownership of high-priority, high-visibility projects, ensuring successful delivery
  • Drive continuous improvements in engineering performance, focusing on speed, accuracy, and adherence to project scope
  • Coach and develop project management talent, enhancing team capabilities and professional growth
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams including R&D, Operations, Continuous Improvement, Product Management, and Quality to build project plans, monitor progress, and mitigate risks
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings, ensuring clear communication, execution alignment, and resolution of resource or workflow constraints
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to improve existing processes and implement strategic solutions
  • Build scalable tools, frameworks, and capabilities that can be applied consistently across regions and business units
  • Promote and strengthen a culture of continuous improvement within the project management organization

Ideal Skillset:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related scientific field required; advanced degree (Master's or MBA) preferred, with PMP certification considered a plus
  • At least 8+ years of leadership experience managing projects in areas such as chemical process scale-up, electromechanical systems development, or large capital projects with multi-million-dollar budgets
  • 10-12+ years of project management experience, including planning, resource coordination, progressing initiatives, and leading cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Strong expertise in project management methodologies, tools, and execution strategies to effectively deliver both short- and long-term projects, including those with evolving requirements or uncertain outcomes
  • Proven ability to design and implement new business processes to support organizational objectives
